UK-NIGERIA BILATERAL TRADE RISES TO £7.3BN

Bilateral trade between Nigeria and the United Kingdom has increased to £7.3 billion, underscoring the growing economic relationship between both countries.

The British High Commission disclosed this at a reception held in Abuja to mark the 78th birthday of King Charles III and celebrate the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Speaking at the event, British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Pete Vowles, said the annual celebration provided an opportunity to recognise the longstanding relationship between the UK and Nigeria and the people contributing to its growth.

He described the partnership as modern and forward-looking, noting that both countries were expanding cooperation in trade, education, innovation, security and culture.

According to a statement issued by the High Commission on Friday, the reception followed a significant year in bilateral relations, particularly the state visit to Nigeria in March, which highlighted the strength of the relationship and the importance of people-to-people connections.

The commission added that the UK-Nigeria Strategic Partnership was deepening collaboration in trade and investment, education, defence and security, migration, and development.
