The Ondo State Government has taken a major step toward revitalizing sports infrastructure in the state with the commissioning of five newly constructed sports courts at the Ondo State Sports Complex.

The facility now features upgraded courts for basketball, handball, beach volleyball, volleyball, and Abula—a traditional Nigerian board-and-ball sport.
Speaking at the event, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa represented by the Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties, Bola Taiwo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to athletic development and youth empowerment.
Beyond the facility upgrades, the Governor delivered a major boost to local sports talent by assuring athletes and coaches across the state of improved welfare packages and clear pathways to permanent government employment.
He commended the leadership of the newly appointed Ondo State Sports Council Chairman, Hon. (Coach) Abimbola Oladimeji, noting that the rapid transformation occurred within just two months of his tenure.
Adding his support, the Chairman of the Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Youths and Sports Development, Olajide Oguntodu, lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa’s vision and leadership in executing the project.
Expressing his appreciation, Coach Oladimeji credited the Governor’s “OUR EASE” Agenda for turning around the fortunes of the state’s sports sector, stating that the complex has transitioned “from a state of neglect into a cynosure of development.”
