Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has announced December 4, 2026, as the release date for the sequel to his 2023 Yoruba epic film, Jagun Jagun.
Titled Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors, the movie will premiere exclusively on Netflix.
Adebayo announced the date on his social media pages alongside a teaser hinting at a dramatic tale of warfare, power struggles and the enduring legacy of a feared warrior.
The filmmaker accompanied the announcement with a message suggesting that some warriors remain feared even in their absence.
The sequel follows the success of the original film, Jagun Jagun: The Warrior, which tells the story of Gbotija, a young man seeking to become a formidable warrior who joins the army of Ogundiji, a feared warlord.
The production explores themes of loyalty, ambition, revenge, traditional warfare and the struggle for power.
Produced by Femi Adebayo and directed by Tope Adebayo Salami and Adebayo Tijani, the original film featured notable actors, including Lateef Adedimeji, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Yekini, Bimbo Ademoye, Bukunmi Oluwasina and Muyiwa Ademola.
The film earned recognition at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, winning Best Indigenous Language Movie in West Africa and Best Costume Design.
Details of the sequel’s full storyline and returning cast are yet to be officially confirmed.
The December release is expected to renew audience interest in Yoruba epic cinema as viewers anticipate the next chapter of the warrior saga.
