President Bola Tinubu has directed security chiefs to rescue all abducted persons and eliminate terrorist and bandit camps across the country.
The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), disclosed this to State House correspondents on Thursday after a security meeting presided over by the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Musa said the meeting reviewed the country’s security situation ahead of the forthcoming elections, with the President directing security agencies to ensure a safe environment for voters.
He said Tinubu was committed to free, fair and credible elections, assuring that security agencies would remain neutral and would not take sides with any political party.
The minister urged all political parties to understand that security personnel would carry out their duties impartially to enable Nigerians to vote without fear.
Musa also dismissed claims that underage persons were being recruited into the armed forces, clarifying that the concern involved terrorists recruiting children.
