The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will deploy a 15-member delegation to Nigeria today for a final inspection of facilities ahead of the 48th Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards.
The inspection will assess Nigeria’s level of preparedness for the two events scheduled to take place in Abuja on November 21 and Lagos on December 7, respectively.
The CAF Ordinary General Assembly will hold at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, while the CAF Awards ceremony is scheduled for the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos.
The visit follows an initial inspection conducted between July 31 and August 4, during which CAF officials met with relevant institutions and agencies involved in organising the events.
The meetings focused on coordination, communication and agreements to ensure the successful hosting of the two continental football events.
The delegation, led by CAF Head of Safety and Security, Christian Emeruwa, is expected to arrive in Lagos on Friday afternoon.
A six-member team from the Nigeria Football Federation, led by its Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, will accompany the CAF delegation during the inspection.
The visit is expected to provide a final assessment of the readiness of the proposed venues and supporting facilities ahead of the events
