…SAYS ONDO WILL OUTSHINE OSUN IN ELECTORAL SCORE
…YARI SETS 100-DAY GRASSROOTS MOBILISATION DRIVE
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged a minimum of one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, urging All Progressives Congress, APC, stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the poll.
Aiyedatiwa gave the assurance on Sunday at the palace of the Ooni of Ife in Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he joined a delegation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council led by its Director-General, Senator Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari.
The governor, who is the chairman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Ondo State, said he had been mandated to coordinate the campaign and ensure the state delivers the required votes for Tinubu’s re-election.
He expressed confidence that Ondo would surpass Osun State in electoral performance, recalling that an executive order had been issued months ago to establish a target of one million votes for the president.
Aiyedatiwa called on party members and stakeholders to strengthen mobilisation at the grassroots, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to delivering democratic dividends to the people.
In his remarks, Yari urged APC stakeholders to dedicate the next 90 to 100 days to intensive grassroots mobilisation to secure Tinubu’s re-election.
The former Zamfara State governor said the campaign leadership had begun consultations with traditional rulers to seek their support and blessings ahead of full-scale campaign activities.
He stressed the need for political continuity, arguing that sustaining the current administration would enable the completion of critical infrastructure projects and ongoing economic reforms, despite the prevailing economic challenges.
Yari also expressed optimism about the APC’s electoral prospects in Osun State, noting that the state had an estimated 2.1 to 2.2 million registered voters.
Earlier, the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, called for unity among party members, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to ensure victory for Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, commended traditional rulers and community leaders for supporting the Tinubu administration, expressing optimism about unity and development across the South-West.
The monarch also emphasised the importance of cooperation between the South-West and North-West, urging traditional rulers to promote continuity and effective governance.
Those at the gathering included former APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; Osun State Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; former Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Olubunmi Etteh; and former governors Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Rochas Okorocha and Danjuma Goje, among other political leaders.
