The Federal Government has secured 2,512 convictions in terrorism-related cases following the conclusion of the 11th phase of terrorism trials at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, Office of the National Security Adviser, Major General Adamu Laka, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said an additional 791 convictions were recorded during the latest phase of the trials, bringing the cumulative number of convictions from the 11 phases to 2,512.
According to him, the latest phase, conducted between October 15 and 17 and October 22 and 24, 2026, handled 1,069 cases across 10 courts of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
The outcomes included 791 convictions, seven acquittals, 41 discharges, four cases struck out, three withdrawn, 211 adjourned and 11 pending, while one case was recorded under another category.
Laka explained that the first 10 phases had produced 1,721 convictions before the latest exercise.
He described the outcome as evidence of the commitment of Nigeria’s justice system to ensuring that perpetrators of terrorism are held accountable for their actions.
One of the significant outcomes of the latest phase was the conviction and death sentence imposed on a Boko Haram member, Suleiman Abu, for his membership of the terrorist organisation and involvement in attacks on military facilities and civilians, which resulted in deaths and serious injuries.
The National Counter Terrorism Centre reaffirmed the importance of sustained judicial action in the fight against terrorism and efforts to strengthen national security.
