2027: AIYEDATIWA TASKS APPOINTEES WITH MOBILISING ONE MILLION VOTES FOR TINUBU

…directs SSAs, SAs to monitor projects across 18 LGAs

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has charged his political appointees to intensify grassroots mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor also directed the newly appointed Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to monitor government projects across the 18 local government areas, provide feedback on their implementation and report any shortcomings.

Aiyedatiwa gave the directives on Friday during separate meetings with the appointees at The Dome and the Cocoa Conference Hall, Governor’s Office, Akure.

He said the appointments were aimed at strengthening grassroots governance, ensuring effective representation at the local government level and creating a channel through which communities could communicate their concerns to the government.

The governor urged the appointees to remain actively involved in their respective communities and promptly report developments, whether positive or negative, to enable the government to respond appropriately.

He particularly tasked them with monitoring road construction projects, assessing the quality of work delivered by contractors and providing public feedback on their execution.

Aiyedatiwa disclosed that road projects had been awarded across the 18 local government areas, with each council allocated between five and six kilometres of roads.

On the 2027 elections, the governor charged the appointees to mobilise support for President Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima and all APC candidates, stressing that the party had set a minimum target of one million votes in Ondo State.

He described the mobilisation exercise as a collective responsibility, assuring the appointees that the necessary support would be provided to achieve the target.

Earlier, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince Segun Omojuwa, urged the appointees to demonstrate loyalty, integrity, discipline and dedication, reminding them that their appointments came with significant responsibilities.

He also charged them to familiarise themselves with the administration’s OUR EASE agenda and use its principles as a guide in carrying out their duties.

In his remarks, the Ondo State APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the 2027 elections, attributing this to what he described as the performance of the Aiyedatiwa administration.

Babatunde said the party would campaign on its achievements rather than make fresh promises, while commending the governor for involving party leaders at the local government level in recommending candidates for political appointments.

He described the arrangement as a significant step towards strengthening the party’s grassroots structure.

Representatives of the appointees from the three senatorial districts pledged their loyalty to the governor and assured him of their commitment to the administration and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Editorial note: I have tightened the narration, removed repetitive quotations and foregrounded the two major news angles: the one-million-vote target and the monitoring of projects across the 18 LGAs. I have also retained the key contributions of the Chief of Staff and APC chairman.
