The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) says it is repositioning its operations through technology and expanded services to remain relevant in the digital age.
The State Public Relations Officer and Corporate Communications Manager of NIPOST, Onipede Ayomide, stated this as the world marks World Post Day, celebrated annually on October 9.
Orange FM’s Adenike Ajayi reports that this year’s theme, “One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities,” highlights the evolving role of postal services in connecting people, businesses and communities.
Onipede said NIPOST was strengthening its postal network and improving access to services to meet changing customer needs in an increasingly technology-driven world.
He noted that postal services had moved beyond traditional letter writing and mail delivery to embrace a wider range of services designed to support individuals, businesses and entrepreneurs.
The postal network, he added, provides opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurs to access postal facilities as contact points, particularly those operating without conventional office spaces.
A business operator, Abiodun Ogundele, highlighted how postal facilities could support entrepreneurs in managing their business operations.
Also sharing his experience, a postal service user, Bayo Opaleye, spoke on the convenience of receiving packages and the importance of efficient delivery arrangements.
World Post Day provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of postal services in promoting communication, supporting economic activities and connecting communities.
As digital technology continues to reshape communication and commerce, NIPOST is focusing on expanding its services and improving efficiency to sustain the relevance of the postal network.
