The Ondo State Government has distributed Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment to 28 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to enhance efficiency and accelerate digital transformation in the public service.
The distribution, coordinated by the State Information Technology Agency (SITA), took place on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the SITA Hall in Akure.
The equipment included desktop computers, laptops, printers, photocopiers and scanners to improve workflow, strengthen electronic governance and enhance service delivery.
Speaking at the ceremony, SITA Executive Chairman, Hon. Tomide Akinribido, said the initiative reflected Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to improving governance through technology.
Akinribido appreciated the governor for approving the initiative, noting that the last exercise of such magnitude was conducted in 2012.
He said the distribution was not merely about providing equipment but also about building a smarter, faster and more transparent public service.
According to him, the facilities would support the ongoing deployment of the Ondo State E-Governance Platform, with plans to ensure that all MDAs are fully onboarded before the end of the year.
He urged the beneficiary agencies to maintain the equipment properly and ensure they were used for their intended purposes.
In his remarks, the Acting Permanent Secretary of SITA, Mr. Segun Akosile, said the agency remained committed to bridging the digital divide in the public sector and positioning Ondo State as a technology hub in Nigeria.
He added that SITA would deploy technical personnel to install the equipment and train staff of the beneficiary MDAs on basic maintenance and cybersecurity best practices.
Also speaking, the Director of Engineering and IT Infrastructure, Mr. Ogundugbagbe Austin Taiwo, described the distribution as the first phase of the exercise, assuring that the second phase would commence soon.
The 28 beneficiary MDAs commended the state government for the initiative, describing it as timely and capable of improving productivity and public service delivery.
