The Bureau of the FIFA Council has approved the appointment of a Normalisation Committee to manage the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) pending fresh elections into its Executive Committee.
In a letter by FIFA Secretary-General, Mattias Grafström, and addressed to Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, FIFA said the committee would comprise a suitable number of members to be jointly appointed by FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as soon as possible.
The letter stated that the committee’s tenure would end upon the completion of its assigned responsibilities, but not later than May 31, 2027.
It added that members of the Normalisation Committee would not be eligible to contest any position in the forthcoming NFF elections.
Pending the appointment of the committee, the NFF Secretariat will continue to oversee the federation’s day-to-day activities and the administration of football in the country.
The development is aimed at ensuring the continued management of Nigerian football while preparations are made for fresh elections into the NFF Executive Committee.
