ODSEMA VOWS TO SUSTAIN RELIEF DISTRIBUTION TO DISASTER VICTIMS

The Ondo State Emergency Management Agency (ODSEMA) has pledged to sustain the distribution of relief materials to victims of flooding and other natural disasters across the state until the end of the year.

The Deputy Governor and Chairman of ODSEMA, Dr Olayide Adelami, gave the assurance during the distribution of relief materials to disaster victims in Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area.

The intervention, according to the agency, is aimed at cushioning the effects of disasters on affected communities and providing support to vulnerable residents.

Representing the Deputy Governor, the Secretary of ODSEMA, Richard Aina, said the initiative was made possible through the funding provided by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the procurement of the relief materials.

He explained that the distribution was part of the state government’s commitment to identifying with disaster victims and alleviating their suffering.

Mr Aina urged beneficiaries to appreciate the gesture, noting that although the relief materials might not fully compensate for their losses, they would go a long way in easing their hardship.

He further assured residents that the government would continue to respond to the needs of communities affected by disasters.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Emergency Response, Prince Wellington Adebawo, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the relief materials.

The Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government, Adeboye Adebare, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for the prompt approval and release of relief materials to victims of the recent flooding in the area.

He said the swift intervention demonstrated the governor’s commitment to the welfare of the people and appreciated the state government for remembering those affected by the disaster.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Omolewa Olawale thanked the governor for the assistance, saying the relief materials would help reduce their suffering and ease the hardship caused by the disaster.
