Nigerian gospel singer Bidemi Olaoba has expressed grief over the death of his colleague, Olayemi Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, recalling his final ministration at a worship service in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The late singer’s family announced his death on Wednesday after he reportedly slumped at his residence and was later confirmed dead. Reports also alleged that several hospitals rejected him.
The incident occurred a day after Toluwanisings performed at the In His Presence worship service organised by Olaoba in Ibadan.
In a Facebook post, Olaoba shared a video of the late singer’s performance, describing his death as a painful loss that had left an immeasurable void.
Reflecting on their final encounter, Olaoba said he wished he had held his colleague longer and allowed him more time to minister had he known it would be his last appearance on stage.
Toluwanisings was widely known for his gospel song, Kabiesi Olorun Ayo, which earned him recognition among gospel music lovers.
Other gospel artistes, including Pelumi Deborah, have also taken to social media to mourn the singer, expressing shock and sadness over his death.
The circumstances surrounding his reported death have renewed concerns about emergency medical response and access to timely healthcare in Nigeria.
