The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is yet to fix a date for the publication of its corrected list of candidates for the 2027 general elections following complaints by political parties and candidates over omitted names.
The commission had published the list of candidates for the National Assembly elections, which included names of candidates whose eligibility may be affected by the Supreme Court judgment on Section 77 of the Electoral Act.
However, INEC excluded the affected candidates from the lists for governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections, triggering protests from political parties and their candidates.
The commission had given those affected until October 24 to submit complaints and requests for corrections.
INEC said it was processing submissions from political parties and candidates, alongside relevant court orders, adding that the corrected lists would be published once the exercise was completed.
