PSC APPOINTS JOHNSON BABALOLA AS NEW ONDO POLICE COMMISSIONER
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Commissioner of Police Johnson Ayodeji Babalola as the new police chief for Ondo State.
Babalola, who was formerly the Commissioner of Police in charge of Special Inquiry at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, is among four senior officers redeployed to different state commands.
The appointments were announced on Thursday at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja following interviews conducted to assess the officers’ suitability and readiness for their new assignments.
The Commission said the postings were made in accordance with Section 215(1)(b) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers it to appoint Commissioners of Police for states and the Federal Capital Territory.
PSC Chairman, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Salihu Argungu, said the officers had demonstrated sound character and competence during the screening exercise.
Represented by a Board Member, Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, Argungu charged the newly appointed Commissioners to discharge their responsibilities with impartiality and meet the expectations of their offices.
The other officers posted are CP Sunday J. A. Okoebor to Plateau State, CP Fidelis Ogarabe to Enugu State and CP Sheikh Mohammed Danko to Nasarawa State.
Babalola’s appointment is expected to strengthen police administration and security coordination in Ondo State.
