A Kenyan court is set to deliver judgement in the mass murder case involving doomsday preacher Paul Mackenzie and 29 of his followers, who are accused of murdering 191 children.

Prosecutors allege that Mackenzie and other members of his religious group forced children to starve to death in the belief that they would meet Jesus. The group reportedly prohibited formal education and condemned modern medicine.

Mackenzie and the 29 co-defendants have pleaded not guilty, maintaining that nobody was forced to die.

His former head of security, Enos Amanya Ngala, who was initially accused in the case, later entered a plea deal and became a prosecution witness.

Mackenzie and other leaders of the group are also facing separate legal proceedings over alleged terrorism, radicalisation and the denial of education to children.
