The Personal Assistant to late gospel singer Olayemi Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, Babadunni Gbolabo, has recounted how efforts to save the singer failed after he was rushed to between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Gbolabo said the singer suddenly slumped on Wednesday morning despite appearing to be in good health before the incident.
Speaking in Yoruba on Thursday, he explained that he was not present when the incident occurred but rushed to the scene after receiving a phone call.
According to him, attempts to resuscitate the singer were made before he was taken to several hospitals in search of medical attention.
He alleged that some hospitals cited an ongoing doctors’ strike, while others declined to admit the singer.
Gbolabo said the singer’s associates did everything possible to save him, including offering prayers, but their efforts proved unsuccessful.
The family announced Toluwanisings’ death in a statement shared on his social media account, describing him as a beloved husband, family member and gospel minister.
The family, however, did not disclose the cause of death.
Gbolabo further disclosed that the singer’s body had been deposited at a mortuary, while family members were expected to meet to determine the next steps, including funeral arrangements.
The family said details of the funeral would be communicated in due course.
