RUSSIA FIRES BALLISTIC MISSILES AT KYIV, TWO INJURED
At least two people have been injured after Russian forces launched a ballistic missile attack on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, damaging residential buildings and other facilities.
Kyiv Mayor, Vitali Klitschko, disclosed this on Saturday, saying explosions were heard in the city’s suburbs as Russian missiles targeted the capital.
He said debris from the attack struck a five-storey residential apartment building in the western part of Kyiv, damaging its exterior. Another residential building was also affected.
The city’s military administration confirmed that a building housing a kindergarten was equally damaged.
Emergency officials said two people sustained injuries, while residents were advised to remain alert amid fears of further attacks.
The latest assault comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warns of possible fresh Russian strikes on energy facilities, bridges and other critical infrastructure.
It also comes ahead of US-led diplomatic talks involving Russian and Ukrainian representatives scheduled to begin in Abu Dhabi, as efforts continue to end the four-and-a-half-year war.
